Greg Thomson grew up in Edinburgh, Scotland. He moved south to Manchester in 1991 to embark on a career in professional football with Manchester City FC.

His football career included periods in both the Premier League's of England and Scotland as well as an enjoyable spell playing in the USA before Greg moved into the world of business.

In 1996 Greg saw his first success as an entrepreneur when he headed up a coaching business based in the US. This company was successful in developing the skills of over 3000 young soccer players in a 3 year period.

In 1998 Greg achieved his honours degree in Business & Economics and returned to the UK and moved to Yorkshire which has remained his home ever since.

He moved into financial services at this time and following a spell working up through the ranks of one of the UK’s leading banks - where he enjoyed positions as financial advisor and regional sales manager, he decided the time was right to move back in to the world of running a business.

From 2003 to the present day Greg has been building the wealth creation business model that is today Encore.

During this time Greg has continued to be involved in sport and is especially committed to giving back and helping those less fortunate. He has set up charitable foundations for former professional sports people - and has developed great relationships with a growing number of fantastic charitable organisations.

As well as heading up the Encore Foundation, Greg is an ambassador of a global charity and is currently working on a project to establish ‘Hope Academies’ throughout Africa.

“The academies use sport to engage with marginalised children, giving them what they love, in order to provide holistic life skills and education, which is what they need. The goal is to create a new generation of leaders in Africa.”

Encore and its unique definition of wealth remains Greg’s passion – the business allows him to combine all his personal, professional and financial goals. His client’s represent some of the most successful businesses in the country, and his ultimate goal is to continue helping clients achieve growth, true wealth and the freedom to make a difference.
